STQARRIJA: ESO AGM 2022

With the end of the term 2021/2022, ESO held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 17th May 2022 at the University of Malta and simultaneously online via Zoom. The AGM confirmed the appointment of the new executive team for the term of 2022/2023.

It was agreed upon by the members present, that Kylie Fenech would be the Chairperson for this AGM, while the appointed Commissioners were Sheldon Zerafa and Isaac Koroma.

The meeting began with the approval of the Agenda, which was unanimously approved. Following that, Secretary-General Katrina Cassar read last year’s AGM minutes. Proceeding, Rebecca Azzopardi, ESO’s President for the year 2021/2022, delivered her speech. She thanked all of the executive members for the previous term and highlighted all of the accomplishments made by ESO during the 2021/2022 term. Azzopardi closed her speech by wishing good luck to all candidates and the next President, Yana Cremona.

Following this address, the Administration Report and the Financial Report were read and approved. Secretary-General Katrina Cassar read the Administration Report, in which she detailed the events that occurred during the term 2021/22. The Administration Report was unanimously approved. Financial Officer, Yana Cremona read the Financial Report, which included the final balances of both profits and losses from organised events. The final balance recorded was €569.57 deficit and the term was ended with €1,766.28 in total. The Financial Report was unanimously approved. This was followed by the amendments of the Statute which were also unanimously approved.

Subsequently, each contesting candidate delivered a speech in which they presented themselves for their respective roles and their plans for the organisation’s future. The following candidates were presented and approved as the elected executive:

  1. International Officer – Miirko Sant
  2. Events Officer – Tristan Azzopardi
  3. Public Relations Officer – Nicole Sciberras Bray
  4. Media Officer – Marie Azzopardi
  5. Academics Officer – Mariah Busuttil
  6. Secretary-General – Kevin Curmi
  7. Financial Officer – Daniela Marotta
  8. Vice President – Giulia Bugeja
  9. President – Yana Cremona

Yana Cremona, the new President, delivered the closing speech at this AGM. She mentioned that she is determined, together with the new executive members, to work harder for the upcoming term so that ESO can represent and work with all students.

Finally, ESO would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended this years’ AGM and everyone who supported and helped the organisation over the previous year. ESO promises to deliver another successful year and pledges to strengthen its presence on campus and work more closely with the students it represents.
