On Tuesday, it was announced that Professor Charmaine Gauci, along with her healthcare team, is being nominated for the European Citizens’ Prize. The nomination was done jointly by all six of the Maltese MEPs, who came together to acknowledge our healthcare workers’ efforts in containing the COVID-19 pandemic locally.
In a joint press release, they commended Gauci’s leadership as an inspiration during this pandemic. Together with her team of healthcare professionals and volunteers, they ensured an effective response to the pandemic and helped in diminishing the spread of the virus, the Maltese MEPs stated.
This is a prime example of how Maltese MEPs put political ideologies to the side and came together for a common goal. As ESO, we certainly agree that this award would be much deserved, and we congratulate Professor Gauci and her team for the nomination.
